MARTINELLI GINETTO represents one of the largest manufacturers in Val Gandino, the Bergamasco valley that has been one of the most important Italian textile production areas since medieval times.
The valley maintained its textile vocation over the following years and the twentieth century witnessed its growth in international importance through the development of a large-scale textile based society.
THE WILL TO DO WELL
The Martinelli family became active in the sector in the late nineteenth century when Luigi Martinelli started textile production, quickly becoming one of the best known names in the sector and subsequently receiving the title of “Cavaliere” as recognition of his achievements.
The world wars meant that Luigi could not pass the fruits of his labour on to his grandson Ginetto, who opened his own woollen blanket production line in 1947 in Leffe.
The intelligence, passion and tenacity of the founder and his wife Margherita helped the company to grow, expand their wool production and diversify into cotton and linen.
In the nineteen eighties Martinelli Ginetto began jacquard production and very quickly conquered the world market with their production and distribution of precious linens, furnishing fabrics and household textiles.
Today the Martinelli Group has diversified enormously, and has become a leader in different textile sectors:
• the production and finishing of wide-width plain and jacquard fabrics for linens and household textiles;
• the production of high quality yarn for precious rugs and carpets ;
• the production of chenille yarn for soft furnishings.
The strategic and operational management of MARTINELLI GINETTO fully involves their partners in management: Sergio and Luciano Martinelli, the founder’s children, and Alberto Paccanelli who joined the Group in 2007.
